Emerald X-20 string break angle question
Hi all - I have a relatively new X-20 that has an issue I would like help with. Now that I have done two string changes and the problem persists, I wonder if I have a problem with the break angle on the saddle on the high D (I play in DADGAD) string? It has a metallic "plinky" sound and some research I did online suggests this could relate to the break angle of the string. When I look at the angle, that string is a shallower angle than all the other strings (which are all a consistent angle).
Has anyone else had this problem and might suggest a solution? Thanks, Dave

This is what mine looks like - made in 2018, so possibly an older-style bridge than yours.
Occasionally I get that sort of ‘plink’ on my B string. I ended up fixing it by taking care of my fingernails better. Seriously, I realized that if I let my nails get a bit too long (or ragged), the Emerald seems to highlight the issue. A quick touch of a file (Wolfram FTW) takes care of the problem. However, without seeing your bridge/saddle setup, it’s presumptuous of me to suggest that that might be the problem. Can you post a similar shot? It might be that the high D just needs a little relief right behind the point where it breaks over the saddle - in other words, a bit more of a curve, rather than a sharp edge. IMG_1294.jpg

Here is a picture of my X-20 saddle (please pardon the dust and cat hair...):
