Here's a nice easy open-voiced Gm, without a barre:

-3- pinky
-x- mute with ring
-3- ring
-0-
-x- mute with middle
-3- middle

Other 3-finger combinations will also work.
When finger picking you can hold down the E string G bass note while playing the melody or lead with the other fingers.

From my earliest playing I was immediately drawn to the need to make full barre chords. However, open strings ringing against fretted notes are one of the guitar's joys.

For the purposes of this thread it's called Gm though.

Your chords notes would be

G
x
D
Bb
B
G

I call that Chord a GDis
where the dis means discordance.

The official cheats are 355xxx (power chord) or xx5333 {more melodic}

You have the tab upside down, but the open 2nd string is a B natural, so that's a definite wrong note for a Gm chord (as macmanmatty says). Mute that string (easy enough) and it's fine.

3 G
x
0 D
3 Bb
x
3 G

Which should be this way up:

1e 3 G
2B X
3G 3 Bb
4D 0 D
5A X
6E 3 G

You are correct. In hind sight I probably mute the B string without realizing it. I finger pick so mostly I pick the low G and the Bb and high G before changing chords. I had trouble posting the OP as it kept changing what I had written every time I saved it and I wasn't sure which end is up when writing a chord this way. Thanks

No problem. This whole thread had me thinking of how Bert Jansch negotiated the key of G minor in open position in Moonshine. I think you'll see him using something like your chord shape:

I'll often use x 5 5 3 3 x as a cheat to avoid strumming barre chords for long periods of time...using the middle strings usually gives enough balance/weight ratio to fit in with other fuller chords. I can thumb wrap if I need the low G, or barre the first string if I need a G on top.

But remember, a Gm chord is ANYWHERE you can grab a G Bb and D note...

A bit of a stretch with the index finger, but you get a full six string chord:

3-1-0-0-3-3

(G-Bb-D-G-D-G)
