Default NUGD - Gretsch G5420TG-59

Just brought this one home yesterday. A Sweetwater exclusive model and it's a looker for sure! I'm the second owner. I'll give it another day to acclimate before I change the strings and tweak the setup but I think it's going to be a keeper. Just need to find a hard case so it has a nice place to stay when I'm not playing it.

What an absolutely stunning Gretsch! I have always had a soft spot for orange Gretschs. Congrats!

Got your case right here - a near dead-ringer for the '50s Gretsch "Western" case, and one-third the price of the current Gretsch Custom Shop reissue:

- and you'll also need one of these:

Get yourself a nice mid-powered tube amp, and use it well, often and LOUD...

Thanks, Steve. I've had one of those cool Gator cases before with another guitar. I also learned today that this guitar fits quite well in a dreadnought case.

I have a dreadnought case for my 5420, but that Gator case looks much cooler!

Be careful with the neck angle: although it "fits" in terms of body width/length, IME a thinner-bodied guitar can sit low in a dread case, such that it rests at a diagonal - with the headstock raised - rather than flat (as a dread would); if yours is on the shallower side, great - if not, I'd consider a dedicated case sooner than later...

Wonderful Gretsch guitar, 29er!

I have been tempted for so long to buy one of those myself!

And I love that Gator case that Steve recommended, too!

Good info, I'll check it out. Also, have you fit one of these Gretsch hollow bodies in that Gator case? Based on the dimensions given on the Sweetwater site it seems like it may not be deep enough for my guitar. Example: My guitar "fits" in the case of my Casino but the case is not deep enough by a couple of inches. It seems like that might be the same situation with the Gator.

Yes - I've had my MIK 5622 in one of those Gator cases since I bought it in 2016, and TMK at least one fellow AGF'er uses one as well...
