Olympic-white pre-CBS Fenders, first-generation blue-check Ampeg B-15, blonde piggybacks (one with factory JBL's), outboard tube 'verbs - if you love classic American gear it don't get no better than this:

Nigel and his "up to eleven" quote was my immediate thought when I read the thread title. Classic.

The only scene that will ever matter is the young Steve Vai as the demonic
JACK BUTLER, Satan’s hired gun guitarist, in Crossroads!

Yep, that was a fun scene.

The other, of course, is John Belushi with the guitar in Animal House, but that was an acoustic.

Thanks for the posts! I was a college student who worked part time in a movie theater when "Crossroads" came out, so I got to see that movie quite alot. Everyone at the time was saying that Stevie Vai played both parts, but Ralph Macchio's part was played by a combination of Arlen Roth, Ry Cooder, and Steve Vai. Here's more about it. It was also said that Macchio didn't know how to play guitar. Actually, Arlen Roth taught him enough so that he could pretend. Macchio did a good job of mimicking in the video IMO.

Did it also bother you that Forrest Gump’s muddy towel was the inspiration for the iconic “Have a Nice Day” smiley face from the 1970’s?

The scene earlier in the show where Marty auditions to Huey Lewis is also great.

"Johnny B. Goode is in B flat"

I thought it was in A sharp?

Doesn't matter, I play it in A.
