The only reason I always unplug a guitar on stage or even at home when done practicing is because I will not snag the cord with my shoe and pull the guitar off the stand - and that's the biggest reason, at least to me. I did pull a guitar off a stand on stage once and that's one too many times... just unplug, get a small pedal board with a muting tuner, turn the tuner on to mute the guitar and pull the cord. Save yourself some potential grief.

That's why I always use a hanging stand on stage. It's very hard to dislodge a guitar from one of those.....and always leave plenty of slack, so that if someone does snag the cord, it won't pull on the guitar.

For sure you need some kind of mute switch.

Fooling with the cable is not the best (most professional method )

As far as the battery drain. You should change the battery before each show.

You can keep used batteries for emergency, or rehearsal.

If the cost of the battery is an issue. Up your price to cover the cost and labor to install. Strings too.

Just a part of gigging with batteries.

I refused anything with a battery for a long time.

But with todays preamps. It's just a way of life.

Good luck.

The battery in my Anthem SL lasts forever....about 6 months with gigs every weekend. There's no way I'm putting in a new battery every gig. That's just wasting money IMO.

I change the battery in my Takamine religiously once every two years, whether it needs it or not.

No point in skimping.
