UPS dropped this off yesterday. I asked Todd Clinesmith to build this custom lap steel for me a year ago. It was worth the wait.

Congratulations! I have the 6 string model but with the blonde wooden body and fretboard. Clinesmith is one of the best builders out there. You’ll get years of enjoyment from it.

I've had the wooden body Joaquin model from Clinesmith for 3 years and LOVE it. I was curious how I'd adapt to the shorter scale of this new steel but it just feels great!

Is it frightfully heavy? (I guess holding up heavy things is one thing laps are suited for, though.)

At about 15 pounds, it's pretty heavy. But as you said, when it's sitting on your lap that weight is not noticeable.
