Using acoustic guitar effect pedals for electric guitar
I have played acoustic guitar for many years but just bought an electric to give it a try. I have a ton of acoustic guitar effects pedals for my acoustics. Will they usually work for an electric or is there some fundamental difference?

The biggest difference is "electric" pedals tend to have a lot more emphasis placed on distortion effects. Dedicated acoustic pedals might also have an input that's tailored to appealing to acoustic players who use a built in piezo-based transducer, but overall there's no reason not to use what you have.

What is an acoustic guitar pedal?
I have found pedals that seemed to be designed for electric that have a more 'effected' sound, as electric guitar tones seem to be able to take a lot more effect before becoming unusable. For example, I've heard chorus pedals that sound musically useful with an electric guitar, where the same settings used for acoustic end up in an unmusical mess.
