Default Gretsch Synchromatic Identification

Hi folks,

This weekend I traded a ‘40 Epiphone Olympic for this Gretsch Synchromatic. Does anyone know much about these? I can’t find a serial or other information besides what’s on the headstock. The previous owner thought it was a model 160. Hoping someone here can confirm that or provide any other illuminating information.

Thanks rockabilly, it does look very similar.
There is also the faintest stencil mark inside the body that reads the same as the headstock (“Gretsch Synchromatic”). I was advised by a Gretsch-expert at a local shop (Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto) that at one point it would have had a sticker inside with a serial, etc., but that it’s long gone now.

If anyone has any hints or info on how to tell these models apart, I’d be much obliged.
