The Origin of Company Names
What are some origins of company names you can share? Often times we don't know how/why the company was named or even what the acronym stands for if there is one.
Tim Horton's is Canada's most popular coffee/donut shop with over 4200 locations in Canada. Tim Horton played in the NHL for 22 years including winning 4 Stanley Cups with Toronto. He founded the chain in the mid '60s. Tim died in a car accident in 1974 when he was driving home to Buffalo (he was with the Sabres at that time) after playing a game in Toronto. Tim was known as one of the strongest players in the game. |

World Famous Randy’s Donuts is the most recognized donut shop in the world and one of the most iconic locations in Los Angeles attracting visitors from around the world to take pictures of the giant rooftop donut and enjoy the best donuts in the world! No doubt you immediately recognize the landmark building located at 805 West Manchester Blvd in Inglewood California from its many appearances in movies, music videos, and television, such as Iron Man sitting in the donut, the donut rolling down the street in 2012, its cameo in Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.”, or the countless appearances on television.

ESPN started out as the Entertainment Sports Network, and that phrase was phased out.

I've always laughed at the countless stories from the early days of ESPN when college grads and sportscaster wannabees were looking forward to working in Manhattan - and then surprise! You need to find a way to get to Bristol, CT!

I worked for a long time for a category leading chocolate company in Pennsylvania. The company bears the founders name as does the town in which its HQ and original plant is located.
Some folks mistakenly believe there are Hershey family members in the business. There are not. Mr. and Mrs. Hershey had no heirs.

I didn't know that, Larry. I do know that Canada's version, TSN, is The Sports Network.

Second city television of course! I loved the opening where dozens of television sets are being thrown from the high rise as SCTV comes on the air.
In fact, you started a thread about SCTV and other bizarre TV shows last year, Dru: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=591931 Lets see, if AGF were a tv show, it would be: The Muppet Show! best, Rick
