Richard Gilewitz...an amazing fingerpicker/fingerstyle player. Does Fahey tunes, Kottke tunes, and his original own original material. Ranges from bluesy/funky to delicate/enchanting. Highly recommend his stuff. “Synapse Collapse”, and “Tasmania Live” are good places to start.

Never knew until this week that Allman Brothers Band played on TV once with Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Brass (songs 2 & 4 here). This is good.

I've always been afflicted with musical earworms looping around in my head 24/7 (thoroughly aggravating when it's bad music, and distracting at best when it's good stuff making my feet wiggle while I should be sleeping). Thus, I was wide awake at 0230 today re-playing Kind of Bird in my imagination (4th song in this video), repeating that intriguing time change-up... over and over and over...

Loved Doc's comment on playing with ABB. Classy.

During these stressful times, I'm on the look-out for relaxing music to ease a troubled mind after a long day. These two bands seem to hit that mark every time.

The therapy has failed. Since the 1961 Karl Munchinger and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra performance of Archangelo Corelli's Concerto grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8: Fatto per la notte di Natale (Christmas Concerto) isn't offered in the United States, I downloaded yet another recording, hoping that it would be as nice as Munchinger's. In vain. Close, but no cigar. I have it on vinyl, a record I bought for my late father in 1977 and stole back from him. I suppose I'll have to drag it into the studio, digitize, and restore it.

Meanwhile back at the raunch, my best high school friend gave this record to me. The understated "playing for the song" guitar style Mick Jones played on this 1973 album before going on to helm Foreigner was really quietly influential on me as a studio player. I love his low-gain sounds. This band was a classic "pre-all-stars" bunch. This incarnation featured keyboard and vocal trade-offs between bandleader Mike Harrison and future "Dreamweaver" Gary Wright.

Is that wow and flutter on the piano intentional?

I've downloaded the "Remastered" version and it is, frankly, crap. But with a half-smiley curve (beginning to roll upwards from about 4k) it can actually be reasonably listenable.
