Just got back from a visit with Tom and played this and three other instruments he's taking to Santa Barbara. They were all Braz and all quite stellar. Three of them had JUST been strung up. The one pictured here was especially nice with deep bass response. Another favorite was a french polish top. If you are going to the show, make sure and stop by his booth and check them out......gorgeous guitars.

I had the pleasure of playing Tom's SBAIC guitars over the weekend and was floored.

Five beautiful guitars with old growth Brazilian, three different sizes, two fan frets, and one amazing surprise.

Tom's new website just went live today. You'll see that he's now offering Brazilian standard on all of his guitars and it's beautiful wood. You'll see that he's also introducing a new series - the Sterling. The big reveal is coming in Santa Barbara so I won't spill the details, but I will say that he's produced one of the most responsive and lively guitars that I have ever played and I'm really, really excited because he will soon be building me a Sterling of my own!

The guitar in this thread is phenomenal - rich and deep tone but with perfect balance. The small bodied fan fret is delightfully warm and promises to be a beast as it plays in. The three Legacys are exceptional - especially the Sterling. I'm a huge fan of Tom's sound and his build quality is second to none.

I'm envious of those going to the show. Be sure to stop by and see Tom. He's really taken it to the next level.

If you're like me and can't make it, check out his new website. What he's doing both in building and in bringing Brazilian to a more sensible price point astonishes me.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Todd I'm glad it worked out with meeting up last minute bad back and all. Ben I'm looking forward to meeting you at the show. I'm pretty sure our tables are close by. See you there! Bill I had a great time Saturday. I'm glad it worked out for you to see those guitars. Certainly looking forward to building you another.

My wife and I will be leaving shortly to LA. We'll be hanging out with diamondave before we head up to the show. I'll be looking forward to seeing him again and checking out his great collection of guitars. Before I leave I wanted to get these final pics up of this guitar. I have 4 others but not enough time to post them. Also check out my new website www.doerrguitars.com Thanks for looking!

Gorgeous build!

And I'm digging Tom's new website and new series of all-brazillian as standard spec guitars, base guitars. Looks like there has never been a better time to get a Doerr!

That looks like a tough job you have there - but someone has to do it.

I'm ready for the fun to be had, but don't have all the fun before the rest of us get there.

And you really have to hear it - if he wasn't going to be building me one (well, - second one), I'd probably have to buy this one. It's got a little more bling than I typically go for, but it's pretty subtle and very elegant in person. Can't wait for mine!

If you're lucky enough to be at SBAIC, be sure to check out Tom's guitars (not only this one and the Sterling, but the two Standard's that he's bringing - those are a ton of guitar for the money).
