+1 for Tom Doerr! Tom builds some of the finest sounding instruments I've played and I've played a bunch!

Nick Kukich, of Franklin Guitars, has been building some of the most incredible guitars available for about 50 years. El Mcmeen, Woody Mann, Stefan Grossman and John Renbourn among others are proud owners and endorsers of his guitars. His Website: http://www.franklinguitarcompany.com

By no means comprehensive, but I can suggest you consider evaluating the following luthiers in your search:

Leaning more traditional in their style (listed alphabetically)
  1. Nick Kukich - Franklin Guitar Company, Oregon
  2. Bruce Sexauer - Sexauer Guitars, California
  3. John Slobod - Circa Guitars, Maine
  4. TJ Thompson - TJ Thompson, Massachusetts (builds very few, mostly repairs)
  5. Kim Walker - Walker Guitars, Connecticut (no longer taken orders)
Leaning more modern in their style (listed alphabetically)
  1. Michael Bashkin - Bashkin Guitars, Colorado
  2. Mark Blanchard - Blanchard Guitars, California
  3. Laurent Brondel - Laurent Brondel Luthier, Maine
  4. Ed Claxton - Claxton Guitars, California
  5. Jeff Traugott - Traugott Guitars, California

A good list from Mr. fancy progression! I'll second it.

De nada.

El hombre con cojines rojos y cojones grandes.

(Really looking forward to the end of the pandemic, for many reasons, including the opportunity to have, play music, and talk all things interesting with you.)

Here is the builder page from Dream Guirtars: https://www.dreamguitars.com/shop/our-builders

It's quite exhaustive, and a good place to start. Many names I am not even aware of.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone have a list of solo luthiers and their websites? If you know any luthier that is missing here please comment. Thanks a lot!

What type of tone is your favourite? Traditional or contemporary fingerstyle or jazz guitar? That will also help direct which luthier to go to.

This is a great list. I have guitars by both Nick Kukich (Franklin) and Michael Bashkin and they are not going anywhere.

As many others have said, the best places to start are this subforum and Dream Guitars. Also check out Guitar Gallery, The North American Guitar, and Luthier's Collection.

Finally, take a look at Mark Hatcher. He's doing really creative stuff.
