PS -
Mr. Jelly's advice is worth repeating: Use your diaphragm, a.k.a. singing from your stomach. (Everyone doesn't know what the diaphragm is, and it feels like you're singing from your stomach.) It's a trick all the great soul, gospel, and jazz singers swore by was to sing from the stomach, not the head or throat or chest. Listen to some Aretha Franklin. Ella Fitzgerald. Sam and Dave. Wilson Pickett. Ray Charles. Stevie Wonder. Nina Simone. Mavis Staples. They all did it. A lot of twentieth century pop and rock greats did it, too. Laura Nyro. Carole King. Tom Jones. Bruce Springsteen. Lennon and McCartney. Jagger. Roberta Flack. Regardless of the kind of voice you have, it sounds full and rounded. You'll know you've caught the wave when you feel it.
