So excited....I’ve been wanting a classical for a while plus the tone is more appealing to me vs SS. Pics coming soon!!

Hope you enjoy it - the lattice bracing is certainly a different sound.

Had a gorgeous C12 Madagascar a few years ago.

Have heard only good things about the C-12. I have two C-10's. Cordoba makes an excellent guitars.

I've had my Cordoba C-12 Cedar for almost 2 years now. I still love it.

I found that carbon treble strings just don't sound good on the guitar. The lattice bracing makes the guitar a bit on the loud side. Carbon trebles just turned it into a cannon and I lost the nuances in the tones.

I use Augustine Regals or Imperials on mine.

Good luck with your new guitar.

Dave

Well the guitar arrived. Looks great but the set up is horrendous. Action is way high, intonation is off and after a week I’ve spent more time retuning vs actually playing it.

Off to my luthier on Thursday for an evaluation/setup (?). I gotta tell you this ranks as the poorest set up of any guitar I’ve ever received. For the money it was a real disappointment.

Hopefully my luthier can clean up the mess.

I'm sure you're aware that classical action tends to be a lot higher (3.5-4mm Low E) and this makes tuning and intonation more of a challenge all round, along with the nylon strings and the tendency to stretch.

Just worth bearing in mind - good luck with the guitar.

Ouch..that's beyond playable.

Mine is at about 3.7mm and just right for an ex steel string player.

I’m not giving up but ultimately my luthier will evaluate the guitar and see what’s going on. He’s one of the best in Boston and I’m hoping he can get it set up correctly.

I haven't been able to play a C12 but I've been impressed with the value-for-money of the Cordoba line.

Luthier Kenny Hill was one of the consultants that helped develop Cordoba's recent guitars. I have one of the very early student guitars that he had made in China (probably in the same place that eventually made the Cordobas). Got it from Kenny himself in his Ben Lomond shop.

Regarding the action, the saddle might just need to be lowered.

Carbon trebles are louder and generally come in high tension which, in my estimation, moves toward steel string sound.

Hope the top is fine and it's an easy fix!

True, but they're still much more mellow than steel.

Given my perceived responsiveness of the Cordoba guitars, I'd recommend trying out both nylon and carbon trebles.

I recall another CGist who tried carbon on a very responsive lutihier-built instrument and he hated the strings. He said it just "overdrove" the guitar and made it sound "shrill".
