Default Battery Amp

What's a decent small battery powered amp to use with a JJB equipped 000-18? Probably only used for busking type situations with people just wandering by. No vocals involved.

I use a Bose S1 Pro and love it. Probably not the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for.

“Decent” is in the ears of the listener and his wallet.
Here’s a couple that will do the job:

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...stic-combo-amp

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...m-with-battery

I own a Bose S1…very lightweight.
They are hard to beat, not inexpensive though.

I really like my Bose S1 Pro. It's perfect for busking situations and gigs from small coffee shops to much larger rooms. It'll handle almost every kind of gig I play. The only time I've seen shortcomings was at a large outdoor venue that was wide open with no walls to bounce sound off of.

I'm another happy busker (and some other small jobs) that use the Bose S1.

I looked at all the alternatives. There where one or two chinese alternatives that no one had tested and there was S1 that 100's swore buy.

But I sing and play. If I only played....?

If you don't need reverb the Mackie Thump Go is an alternative to the S1Pro. Also no one mentioned the JBL Compact.

I would recommend avoiding the Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge. It seems enough people have trouble with the internal SLA (sealed lead acid) battery that I would go with a different choice. The Bose battery is replaceable which is a plus.

For the technically inclined, any of the small amps with external power supplies can now be run off of USB batteries intended to recharge laptops. USB cell phone batteries are hit or miss as cell phones don't yet require the higher voltages, like 15 or 20 (19 volts is essentially the same as 20 for power purposes), for fast charging.

Bose S1- Pro.

Best bang for your buck, and for its size.

JUST for guitar, I would not go with the S1

I have one, it sounds decent, The reverb is MEH. The EQ is lacking and the Bose Tone Match just doesn't seem to do much for the guitar straight it. You'd need an EQ pedal at minimum to dial it in

For just a guitar input, here are better options, I'd be looking at things like

Fishman Loudbox MINI Charge (I know people have complained about these and had problems but the Fishman stuff is usually top shelf)
Fender Acostasonic JR. GO

Another vote for the Bose S1, I just love it. Sounds good, convenient. I never thought I would use it with battery power, but that's all I ever do.

Over 2 years of gigging it, it's taken over my Fishman Artist, unless I need more power.

The EQ on the S1 is sufficient for guitar. I’ve run my JJB-equipped D18 through it with good results. An external EQ will no doubt give you more, but when your busking, the passers-by wont stop and critique your guitar tone…trust me.

If you haven't tried a Cube Street it would behoove you to do so.

There's also a dynamic mic input channel for when you get brave enough to start singing.

I'm a poor enough singer that people offer to trow a few bucks in the tip jar if I will stop.

Lotsa good suggestions. I'm thinking of bypassing the 'battery' part and just going with one of my Mackie Thump 12a cabinets and Yamaha MG10XU mixer. I really doubt I'll be playing anywhere without power and this setup, besides being paid for (very important), allows me to use my choice of mics (even condensers) or pickup. Still leaning toward the Bose S1 or the Boss should I go that direction in the future.

I understand what your doing, but a mixer for busking?
I’d try to find a way around that, bit hey if you’re cool with it, great.
