I want to thanks everyone again for their nice comments!

If you get a chance to audition one of this series, I heartily recommend it (even if you're not in the market). The more that try these, the more chance Martin will expand the line. Which I am of the opinion they should (and will, fingers crossed)!

It a chance to have some of Martin's best tops and bracing, while still keeping prices reasonable (relatively speaking vs the true Authentics).

Wow- what a guitar, Tom! We'd love to hear a sound clip here if you have time and the inclination to post something.

Hi Tom,

What a gorgeous guitar! WOW! Congratulations!

And what a great move for Martin that they are now allowing Authentic bracing features on custom shop products!

Good for you!

A bit more info: the Aged versions have an even-thinner finish than non-Aged, similar to the Authentic series.
As everyone whose tried both has said, there's a clear difference in sound due to the thinner finish! I didn't realize when I auditioned, but note the Aged was the immediate victor.

Man, that's a sweet guitar. I just bought an 000-28EC, which i'm really happy with. But I might well have gone for this if my budget would have allowed for it. Of course, by the time you spend for the aged version, you're in the price range of a similar one from the folks at Pre-War, which could be a tough choice. Congratulations, in any case, that a an awfully nice instrument...

It's been too long since I've played an EC, so cannot comment. I have owned numerous Martin MLO necked guitars in the past few years. I'm not terribly fussy on necks, but certainly have favorites. The MLO is not optimal to me. My old 1974 D-28 had one of the better necks IMO (full-C), but close behind is my 1944 00-18. I'd call that a "mild V".

The new 000-28 CA is very similar to that. Although Martin claims the neck is Mod V. I think it's wonderfully comfortable to play.

Thanks Glenn; you have great taste, so your approval is a feather in the cap.

I really hope Martin is onto something with the Custom Authentics, that they expand the line to mahogany-backed guitars.

Congratulations, amazing looking and I bet it sounds fantastic. One question: Was the Geib 533 case with the plush green color interior a custom choice or is it standard for those models? I am asking because I really miss those 90s/early 2000s fantastic looking Geib 533 cases with the green "shuttered diamond" interiors. (although I am aware that some of them were problematic and the green faded to a cool looking "wine red" color. Ask me how I know. )

That case is standard with the guitar; I store my guitars in an Acoustic Remedy wall case, so the guitar cases end up stored in the shipping box in the basement.
