kramster -- the X30 is waaaaaaaaaaaay louder than the X20 right? like definitely enough to justify the purchase for imminent unplugged street performance?

Hi Jim -- I'm afraid I moved to Bloomington IN. If I get the blue one though I'd be happy to meet up when I swing through town Nov 17th weekend.

Alex,
That'd be a welcome situation! The X30 has a lot of appeal.

You don't see many nylon string jumbo guitars around and there is a reason for that. Nylon string tension is lower than steel string tension, which is a disadvantage if you want to make a large guitar body vibrate. So preserving that big jumbo sound with nylon strings may be a challenge. But perhaps I am underestimating Alistair's magical abilities.

Well it came down to the wire last night. I work nights so around 3am I dinged Kevin to ask if if was too late to pack and ship the guitar. He said no problem. But I’m cash-poor still after the wedding and move and didn’t know if they’d take credit card so I was going to pitch them a deal to reappropriate money from the padauk guitars to cover this one. Kevin said hang on two minutes.

“No problem” said Alistair. I felt sheepish about that and asked if they take credit card. “We don’t have a machine here. But you can do it through paypal.”

So, girded by the belief that this may replace my Sable as my primary Work Guitar, I gave him the thumbs up. My wife, amazing girl she is, just smiled today and said “Yeah i’m not surprised.”

T minus one week barring customs hangup, which Kevin said is about one in ten.

Regarding the advisability of nylon strings on an X30. First, high tension strings are making a big difference in projection. Second, carbon fiber is particularly sensitive to strings and Alistair is particularly sensitive to CF. I have had four nylons from Alistair and they all projected at surprising levels. It could be that a 30 nylon would be a marvel.

Well, that didn't take much "convincing." Congrats on the incoming X30!

Mr. K;

Your eyesight must be going--I can read those labels from here and I'm a bazillion miles from Ireland.
