My McCollum (recently placed on consignment) has those exact woods but with no cutaway. I get your description completely, as has anyone who's played a McCollum with that wood combination, they're just so balanced and rich sounding.

Congrats again!
I recall reading a couple of your posts after finding your McCollum. You had several Goodalls as I recall and sold them off. Are you selling the McCollum? I haven’t played any guitar that rivals my Goodall. Having never seen a McCollum, much less played one, I’m curious as to how you would compare them. I saw the classifieds of both McCollum guitars but would never buy one without playing first.

Congratulations on the McCullom - Lance made some exquisite guitars. A friend of mine has one. Enjoy!

I sold a McCollum GA about a year ago....it may have possibly been the best guitar I ever owned....I mean it was perfect in every way! And the extra depth on Lances GA guitar adds load of bottom end. Enjoy sir!

This may be a bit longer winded than most of my replies, but it’s important because you ask a great question and I hope this helps.

When I first played a Goodall in McCabes a couple of decades ago, I had never played such a complete guitar. I’d owned most series of Martins and to me they had been the benchmark, but that Goodall had it all, balance, volume, everything that I sought in a guitar.

A few years later when I was better able to afford one, I was able to pick out a GC Cocobolo/Spruce that I A/B/C’d against some great Collings guitars. That guitar stayed with me through 5 other Goodalls that I assumed would be its equal and none were.

On a trip to Nashville to get the last Goodall set-up, I stopped in Cotton Music and by accident, played this guitar I’d never heard of, didn’t notice the tonewoods, just hit a chord and was floored. Paul Heumiller describes what I heard much better than me, in his description of my McCollum.

I kept the Goodall for over a year, unable to believe that at some point I would reassess my love of the McCollum and go back to the Goodall but it never happened. I’ve never wanted more than one acoustic guitar, simply the best one I could own, play and enjoy. I sold the #1 GC Goodall at that point.

I’m selling it because my wife and I are traveling a lot more in our RV, and I’d never take that guitar and risk damage. It needs to be played and celebrated.

It’s the best sounding guitar I’ve ever played and there have been many far more expensive ones, by the most famous luthiers in the world.

If you buy it unplayed, you won’t exercise the return policy. Hope this helps.

Hi Barry and Peter!
Thanks for those kind words! I hope I can live up to the sound I'm hearing in this guitar. It's pretty special, as I'd hoped it would be!!
Enjoy the day!
Fred
