Collings D2HG Varnish (2011), EIR back and sides, German spruce top, Adirondack bracing. 1 ¾ nut width. OHSC.

I had a strap button and K & K pickup installed. Many of you already know that the varnish finish gives these guitars a broken-in, open sound that is well worth the extra cost. This one has that quality and more. It was the one that really stood out after I took the time to play many of these in various wood combinations at the Music Emporium, Rudy’s, and Gryphon over about a year. The German spruce top adds depth and complexity to the tone color. The dynamic range too is astounding. It’s the great flatpicker you would expect, but with the unmatched playability of a Collings setup, and this wood combination, it can go from quiet finger-style to banjo-killer easily. By far the easiest playing of my guitars too.

I really did not think I would ever sell this one, but I find I am really just not playing the dreadnaughts anymore and am in the process of seeking a vintage 000.

I am very careful with all of my instruments, humidified (Oasis and room humidifiers in winter) and a smoke-free home. This guitar has only very minor cosmetic flaws, none of which are the kind of thing the eye is immediately drawn to. There is a small area of clouding on the upper bout from my arm, but again, you have to turn it in the light to notice it. With a lacquer-finished guitar, this kind of thing could easily polish out, but with varnish I am not sure, so I mention it in case this kind of thing really bothers you.

Just bought a golden age vintage Martin and to keep peace at home, this has to go. So... I will take offers before it goes on consignment shortly.
