Hey folks,

I'm taking my first dive into recording and I thought I'd post my first piece, a short arpeggio exercise by Andrew York. My tempo is quite a bit slower than his, but I was able to make through with just few clams in the mix. Guitar is a GV Rubio Hauser, recorded using GarageBand and two Lewitt 040 match pair mics.

Thanks - Fred

Good job and welcome to recording stuff. Though you said you used two mikes the recording came out mono. Check out the settings you used to make sure you did not for example channel into mono and did not pan the mikes towards the center.

Thanks so much Rick. I did not pan the mics and left them centered. I'll head back to GarageBand and give my settings a look.

Good job, and I thought the tempo, although slower, wasn’t too bad. But you do deviate from the written score in a number of noticeable places. Was that intentional?
Also, his dynamic, ritard (especially the one at the end) and “a tempo” markings throughout are really important for the overall flow. Just mentioning it in case you want to refine this one.
You’re off to a great start!
