I think all the Taylor guitars that I have played, that I liked the best were cedar topped or mahogany topped. It just tones down the brightness and I like that.

Cedar tops are great on nylon string guitars! Can have a lot of tonal color but not as much as spruce. Very warm and romantic sound.
