Decent strings cheap !

I pay a bit less for a single Elixir Nanoweb set, but I'd go through 6 of these sets in the same time as a set of Elixirs lasts me.

Less time changing strings means more playing time for me!

I’m not sure why they don’t carry these in mediums I’d like to try them.

Medium gauge strings have become a minority choice and this is clearly targeted at high turnover, majority choice selection.

It seems strange to me, because when I started playing guitar mediums were the number one choice for most players. But that hasn’t been true for decades now.

The Darco phos/bronze are a pretty bright set of strings. I got them a while ago when they were on sale and they turned out to be perfect for my mutenye back and sides Martin GPCRSG. They really brought out the best in it. I tried them on a mahogany backed guitar but they were too bright.

Been using Darco for a while. Essentially Martin strings, but 40% cheaper.

Agreed. In my case, I wonder if it may be because when I started playing (1970's) most acoustic guitars (that I was familiar with) were dreadnoughts.

I still use mediums (and sometimes Bluegrass .012 -.056) on my dreads.. as well as my Larrivee 000 12 fret.

Not to make a BIG DEAL of it, but when you and I started playing PA systems were barely a thing, and acoustic pickups were non-existent, and there were a lot of times we played without the benefit of amplification, or if we did we still had to fight to be heard.

So we equated volume with string weight, and bought mediums and played em hard just to be heard! I had a friend who was KING of the HILL because he had a D-35 he strung with heavy gauge strings, and played with a thick pick.

I'm not saying "We're old…and back in the day" etc etc. OK that IS what I'm saying.

Why are these essentially Martin strings? Are they a subsidiary? Just curious. They are described by others here as very bright, which - to me - is less true for Martins than, say, D'Addario's.

Strange MF doesn't seem to carry these in mediums.

I use D'Addario phos/bronze on my other guitars. To my ears, Darco's a lot brighter, much more so than Martins.

Martin owns Darco. They don't seem the same at all.
