Fernando Sor Op. 60 No'23 - Etude
Hi all
I am loving these Etudes and have stopped working on all my other pieces while I try to improve technique using both Sor and Carcassi to help. They all have so much to offer and are a lot of fun to work on. This is the second Sor Study for me and has a few challenging bits in that need work - there is also a bit more string noise than I would like. Thanks for listening;

Nice! Your recordings become more musical each time. I think that piece does allow for you to lift up off the D string for each of squeaky shifts, which then wont squeak much, if any. (But treble holds contact as guide strings.)

Thanks Frank, indeed it does - and I was consciously doing so but clearly not enough!

Nicely done Peter. I think your tone is getting better, more classical sounding. Your practice is paying off!

That's one of the problems with classical. There's too much quality to choose from! (Dionisio Aguado may be another composer you might want to check out for technical studies that are both helpful and musical).

Thanks, as always, Andre for the support and encouragement. Sounding more classical is good! I love Carcassi Op 60 no’3 - that’s the only one I have worked on so far. I’ll definitely check Aguado out - thanks.

Very nicely done. I can't wait to hear Capricho Arabe.

Nicely played! I think you're definitely getting the spirit of this poignant little
piece- one of my three favorite Sor studies, and maybe the one with the most bang for the buck, IMO. |

Thanks Su, I have put it on hold a for a little while as I need to focus on technique a bit more :-)

My other two favorites are both from Opus 6: #8 (aka Segovia #1), and
#12 (Segovia #14). The latter one is too difficult for me really, but it's beautiful and I enjoy working on bits of it. |
