Midwest.

I recall reading that in the old days, people referred to Ohio-Indiana area as the "mideast", but that eventually fell out of usage.

We love Gotland! Usually manage a trip there every year but last year squeezed in 4 days on Öland instead. It’s one of the first places I want to visit when this Covid crap eases enough for us to be able to enjoy travelling again.

I am English, British and as far as I'm concerned still very much European and part Scandinavian.

I was born a few miles south west of London (a city in England), and now live close to the south coast (of England - near France).

BTW did you know that according to Wikipedia (use it, and donate!) Europe, has 746.4 million people in 3.8 million square miles compared to the USA which has 328.2 million souls in 3.8 million square miles.

I know it is really difficult to build a poll that doesn't upset someone, but thinking about it this does appear to be a tad US focussed.

It’s a good thing you and I and some other Europeans (plus occidentals?) are hanging in here making sure the rest of the world doesn’t get forgotten...!

New York born but Pennsylvania bred. I like Larrivees and my heart is in Tahoe though. Don’t get me wrong, I like my Martin too. Ownership should be a prerequisite for citizenship in the Commonwealth.

British by nationality, English by birth, but live in Wales in the place where I was born and like Silly, still consider myself very much European.

I have absolutely no problem with where guitars are made (do the trees know or care?) and from memory, have owned or currently own guitars made in the UK (2), East Germany (1), Japan (4), Korea (2) , Canada (1), Indonesia (3), China (3) and the US (6).

Can't vote. No Canada on the list.

Influences regarding guitar choice? My first was a J50 as both my brothers had one. Then I got my first custom made guitar (Beneteau) in 1975. Had nothing but Beneteau until quite recently. Why Beneteau? He was a friend and I watched him make his first guitar. I bought the second one he ever made.

He lived in Ottawa at the time, as did I. So I was influenced by having a local builder and the idea that it was pretty darn cool to have a guitar (and a GOOD guitar) that was made to my specs.

OK, so I voted under "USA South" but under duress, seein' as how there weren't no "Texas" unto itself on the list.

Can't see that being born, reared (NOT raised), educated, employed and now retired under the Lone Star much influenced my actual choice of guitars to own. Don't misunderstand...I woulda bought a Martin back in 1968 (had a D-28 on layaway but "things happened") and have admired many Martins, Gibsons, Guilds and (later) Taylors through the years. However, the ones I liked were always more money than I (1) had or (2) was willing to let loose of at any given time.

Thus, my herd through the decades has come from:
1. US (cheapie)...probably an early/mid '50s Harmony or Kay archtop (all ID was removed before I bought it for 27 bucks, c. 1965! Long gone now.
2. Germany...1967 Hofner classical. Still got it.
3. Japan...1969 Yamaha FG-180 Nippon Gakki, purchased late the same year. Still got it.
4. US (another cheapie)...old (uncertain about build date) Harmony slothead 12-string, with the fat-jumbo (Sovereign) body, purchased c. 1972, but sold by early 1980s.
<Fast forward to c. 2009, 30 years of no guitar playing>
5. China...Eastman E8om, purchased from an AGF admin several years ago.
6. China...Recording King RNJ-26, also purchased from an AGF contributor.
Still have both of these.

At 70 years old, I'm sorta losing my window of opportunity to become an international rockstar (no electrics here anyway) or folk sensation, so the current herd isn't likely to expand. Not saying I wouldn't pop for a Martin* OM or 000 or 00 if the right one presented itself, but I'd do a "one in/one out" to preserve marital concord.
;-D

Dirk

* Just wanted to add that if the stock market cooperated, I'd add Santa Cruz, Huss & Dalton, and a couple of other builders to the "maybe" list...but now I'm just talkin' crazy.

Ya I think the OP premise is probably flawed, I'm not sure where your from really has all that much influence on preference of guitar brand (unless you perhaps grew up close to some factory, I could see that logistic having an influence )

Still no response from the OP for leaving out the Midwest.
Poll is not valid.

Many polls leave out the midwest-this likely accounts for the disconnect between polls and election results!

New Jersey, born and raised here. “Nork” (how we Nicky Norks say Newark). Been in the Monmouth/Ocean County area since 1972.
