I was saddened to hear of Michael's passing. I lived in the Cleveland area for 5 years back in the 1990's and I appreciate what he meant to NE Ohio. Great musician. RIP, Michael.

Through a friend at college in Ohio, I became glued to MSB's Ladies' Choice LP. Top stuff, well produced, liked his vocals, but one song that was going gangbusters ended suddenly. I wonder to this day if it was intentional.

Heartbreaking loss...a true Cleveland legend and ambassador of the city he loved and represented so well. I couldn’t even guess how many times I’ve listened to the Stagepass album. Michael was a class act, and his passing will leave a hole in the heart of Cleveland...

For me, this was very sad news being a Northern Ohio guy.
The Michael Stanley Band was one of the most prolific and talented, if not only regionalized pop bands ever. They were intertwined with a lot of Cleveland are musicians and bands most notably Eric Carmen and the “Raspberries”. The songwriting, production and live performances were second to none. Unfortunately, they never had that one “big hit” that launched them nationally. I used to see Michael occasionally at one of my GC hangouts way back when. He was a very soft-spoken, unpretentious guy. He was “Cleveland” to a lot of people, hard-working, blue-collar and never-say-die kind of attitude that epitomized the “city that never gave up”. He will be missed by many...including me. Crank it up...you know this one!

A big loss. I last saw him at the end of 2019 and man he still had it. Nice guy too. I became friendly with several of his current band mates and close friends with his bassist. My wife grew up with his music and is a huge fan. I’ll be playing Rosewood Bitters in his honor an an open mic today.

Sad to hear the news. Had his first two - pre MSB - albums.
Thought "too long between rides" from Rosewood Bitters many times while hitchhiking east and west on I90. |

He was popular in St. Louis, thanks to KSHE radio playing a lot of his music. I worked at Camelot Music in the mid 70s and the number of people that came in asking for his records was impressive. He always put on a great concert when he was here too! RIP Michael Stanley.

Cleveland.com did an extensive story on Michael Stanley and mentioned he did complete a new album with Bill Szymczyk, entitled Tough Room. He kept on doing what he does right up to the end. He was truly a remarkable man.
