Default Walking In Memphis

A cover of the Marc Cohn song, Walking in Memphis. Music tracks recorded with a Spire Studio, video shot with an iPhone and edited with iMovie on a MacBook Pro. It was a gray ol' day here in the Tropical Tip, so a good time to play around in my music room.

Loved this, Captain. It’s a great song, and, in particular, your vocals and harmonies are spot-on.

Darn, I wish I could sing

Well done, Capt. Jim. Good vocals, instrumentals, and the recording quality is top notch. Marc Cohn has some great tunes.

Nice job! I spotted an X10, a T5, an SG, a bass of some kind, and an X? on the wall!

That was the X20 on the wall behind me (you were looking close ); the bass is a Yamaha. I didn't shoot any video with the drums.

Thanks for the nice comments, folks. My music partner Mark and I did that song a couple years ago. This past Thursday, while playing for Joan and Rufus, Joan asked me to play Walking In Memphis. It's been over a year since I played it, and I struggled to remember the chord changes and the words. Even playing "half a song," my sweet wife suggested that I should do that one as a Staying At Home video.

Most of those have been just me and a guitar, singing and playing into a Shure MV88+ mic. Joan likes the "whole band" sound, and with the weather today, I had the time.

Nicely done! That song was a staple in my post college cross country road trip mix which, of course, included a stop in Memphis.

I got a real kick out of your harmonies.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Dave
