Line 6 HX Stomp for acoustic rig
Before I pull the trigger on this Line 6 HX Stomp, I want to make sure it will do all of these things.
1. Button one push for guitar sound with its own EQ. 2. Button two push to turn octave effect for single note bass lines with its own pre programmed EQ that coincides with it. 3. Accept IR’s from my Tonedexter (it does) but working globally for both guitar and bass sounds. 4. Button three push to turn verb/delay on and off. In a perfect world, I would want no verb on the bass channel, and verb on the guitar channel. If that were possible, I could dedicate the third button to something else down the line. This would cut down on so much space and weight for my floor board if it could do all of this.

Remember we still have only 6 blocks to work with. You should look into snapshots.

Yes for each preset you need to add your ir block
this would be the global ir you talk about. I just added a gibson humingbird ir to my Taylor preset. It sounds really good but needs to be at about a 30 % mix. Much higher and the Irs wet signal is too much to my ear. Youll find six blocks is a bit limiting but doable. so youll have... 1. Ir 2. octaver 3. verb 4. delay 5.eq?? 6.?? I usually have some sort of preamp (LA studio pre is nice) in there. for acoustic ..i also like compression. so that for me would be over the 6 block limit. You can build multiple presets putting in the octaver and not another for the songs you want to use the bass effect.,Also the looper is another block . so you may want an external looper. The thing is pretty intuitave so after you work with it awhile let us know what you think. Last edited by varmonter; 02-15-2019 at 06:26 AM. |

If you find 6 blocks limiting you might consider stepping up to the LT which has 12 blocks.

I'm thinking: Guitar block: 1. IR 2. Compression 3. EQ 4. Verb 5. Delay 6. ?? Bass Block: 1. IR 2. Compression 3. Octave 4. EQ I'll have a Sunnaudio Stage DI before the HX Stomp.

Congrats on your purchase! I got a Helix LT for Christmas, and I'm just getting back into playing electric guitar again (after a 15+ year hiatus). I'm amazed at what it can do with just the presets, but the ability to shape my own sounds seems so incredibly powerful. Good luck with your new HX Stomp!

My buddy uses the HX in his electric rig and he's over here helping me set up mine for acoustic with snapshot mode. So far it sounds pretty amazing!
Far left button will toggle between guitar and bass sounds and the middle button should turn the FX on and off, leaving the far right button for tap tempo and tuner. I ordered a two button aux switch to add some functionality as well.

IR Placement?
Curious to know where HX Stomp users are placing their IR (those using) in the signal chain. Perhaps you've chosen not to use an IR, curious to know why?

I've added effects to the IR chain and also just left it clean. Both seem to work great

Link All you need is an audio interface + a mac with logic space designer or a PC with Waves IR-1 for example. Then plug your audio interface Output (L) into the Tonedexter Input and your Tonedexter Output into one of the audio interface input (1). the plugin will read a sweep sine signal, which is a pure tone with variable frequency exactly like Kemper does. The Response from Tonedexter will be recorded and the IR extracted. send me a pm if it is too technical just noticed IR-1 was on sale $35 instead of 249$ https://www.waves.com/plugins/ir1-convolution-reverb
