Default Identify this Alvarez Guitar

Can anyone identify this model? It has the look and shape of the Alvarez 5072 Jumbo but would they really be recording a laminate in the studio?

Is there an all wood version that shares this look or the OM look? I know the Masterbuilt series is supposed to be good but I'm not a fan of the pickguard shapes

Looking for a good studio recording guitar for myself under the price of an OM-28

Why wouldn't they? There are plenty of laminates that sound fine.

You can see I own three Alvarezes, all with laminated back and sides. In addition many of the older-model Alvarezes were all laminates and they sell for surprisingly high (to me at least) prices. If the guitar sounded good I'd imagine it could be used in a studio setting, especially with some "help" from the recording procedure.

Btw, the all solid-wood Alvarezes are called Masterworks. You may be thinking about the Masterbilt series by Epiphone.

The closest to that model I see on the Alvarez web site would seem to be the MF600M. I don't see any jumbo-type model but there may be some available still at some dealers or used. However there are two of the Yairi Masterworks jumbos, the JYM80CE and the JYM80, each has solid flamed maple back and sides.

Who is that? It doesn't look a studio to me. It looks like they're recording in their living room.

$0.02 I hear pickguards are removable...and I think you have the exact model correct. I love my Masterworks and Artist Series Alvarez instruments. Definitely worth of laying down some loops in a living room recording session.
