You didn't miss it, I hadn't said. Most details are yet to be decided, but I'll be looking for a Highlander OM-D, with an upper bout of 11.25", waist of 9", lower bout of 15.25", body length of 19.5" and depth at the tail of 4.75". In addition, I'll be asking pretty slim, Taylor-style neck profile, a 1.75" nut and perhaps 2.25" string spacing. (I may not know what I like, but I like what I know! )
One thing I might enjoy seeing is how my friends here would suggest that this guitar be designated as the AGF Award guitar, something fairly understated. Ideas? cotten |

I'm glad I could help with your decision. Congrats Cotton!
Mary, do I get a % of the commission? |

Congratulations, cotten. Tim and Mary are a great choice. I've played a number of their Highlanders and they are wonderfully-responsive instruments.

Nicely done, Cotten. They are on my short list as well. If I ever get the chance to commission another, Tim and Mary will be at the top of the list. I've got this fantasy of owning 3 custom guitars by different Christian luthiers. My Cornerstone has "love" inlaid in Hebrew on the 12th, my next would have "faith", and the last would have, you guessed it, "hope".
I'm very excited for you, and will be watching very closely (as will the entire forum, I'm sure). |

As the owner of one McKnight guitar, with another on the way one year from now (which I will gladly allow to be "bumped" if it means Cotten receives his guitar earlier), I can assure you that this guitar will be something special and memorable -- and the opportunity to work through this process with the McKnights will be even more memorable.
Welcome to the McKnight family, Cotten. |

To all the accommodating McKnight build slot holders - Tim told me he had a Healdsburg guitar slot open and that Cotten's guitar will take that place, so it's set and no bumping / sliding needed. Just thought I'd pass that along!
John, as far as ideas to make this guitar identifiable - that's entirely up to you. As one of those in the stands applauding the Award, it's not important to me that it be marked at all, but if it were, even something as simple as a special label on the inside - maybe signed by JR? - would be great. I don't know that you'd need to worry inlays or anything like that. Although Keith's idea of the neck cap is great if you do want to put something subtle on it! Best, Phil
