Default Blake Dyson 000 12 Fret Inbound

Earlier this year I found a below the radar luthier who lives just 35 minutes from me and I purchased a Brazilian RW B/S 000 14 fretter that he had just completed…..it’s a hard one to put down once I pick her up to play….here is a thread I posted earlier in the year after I purchased:

https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...ht=Blake+dyson

During one of my trips to his workshop he had a beautiful set of Claro Walnut in which he was going to start another guitar with….I had to have it and that guitar is now two months from being completed. I was able to pick out all the other wood for the guitar including the top and we designed the rosette together….

Here are the specs and some pics and I’ll post more pics once she is complete and I have played!

Specs:

000-12 Fret
24.9 Scale
1-13/16th Nut
2-5/16th Saddle Spacing
Claro Walnut back and sides
Moon Spruce Top
Brazilian Head Plate and Bridge
Cocobolo Rosette with purfling
Madagascar fretboard bound in Coco and Ivoroid
Coco and ivoroid binding and back center strip
Coco heel cap
Waverly tuners - White butterbean
No endpin, pickguard, strap button
Dyson stamp inside and virgin headstock

Blake does nice work. I looked at a cocobolo 00 he made about a year ago. I was impressed although a deal did not happen that day. I would have liked that guitar though…

Congratulations on the build. Claro walnut is a great tonewood and it looks fine too.

I am so thankful I clicked on this thread, for two reasons:

1, that is going to be a STUNNER of a guitar! Congrats! The walnut is simply amazing. a 12 fret 000? YES please.

2, I had not heard of Blake, but his shop is quite near my hometown in NC. I hope I can look him up next time I'm home! Beautiful work!

Default Dyson

Blake's awesome, isn't he? I recently had that whole experience with him, choosing every last bit of material and watching my personal spec'd guitar come together over a few months. European Spruce over Malaysian Blackwood, OM, 13-fret join, short-scale...Congrats on a beautiful guitar!

Yes! He’s a Prince of a Man and loves talking about wood! So do I! We are about a month out from being finished - will try to post some recent pics soon!
