Congrats Bruce for both the museum exhibit and the virtual exhibit in lutherie that you have treated us to in 2015 (JZ/2, Walnut Flat Top, Archtop, Classical and now a Flamenco!). You are truly a luthier's luthier...

Kudos

Bruce,

I believe the flamenco has a Spanish heal. If I am incorrect sorry. Are you building that way because of the sound you are looking for or that a traditional flamenco is built that way.

Thanks as always,

Jrw

I imagine I am building a TRADITIONAL flamenco guitar with a few innovative touches. The Spanish heel is a must IMO, and the Catalpa is an innovation. There are a few others as you will see.

I am very much looking forwsrd to the completion of the three in progress, and look forward to what Bruces imagination leads him to build next year. While I have some hints, I think I'll let myself enjoy the threads as Bruces narrative is one of the most entertaining on the forums -

I'm closing out 2015 playing my Sexauer mini-D, the finest guitar I've owned, and close to one of the finest I've played. My New Years resolution is to close out 2016 with another Sexauer - possibly one of the easiest and most enjoyable NY resolutions I've made -

Happy New Year to all!

To bring in 2016, I just spent an hour this morning playing the 13-fret, Pernambuco/German L00 sized multi-scale that Bruce made for me in 2014. It is hard to describe the seductive timbre of this guitar. It is responsive and balanced like many other fine acoustics, but where it really shines is in the musical balance of chorus of overtones surrounding the fundamentals. Its string-to-string clarity is somewhat like maple, but instead arriving at this clarity by subtractive means; the resonant, glassy pernambuco adds a layered chorus of overtones surrounding each fundamental. This sound is unique, beautifully musical and different from any rosewood guitar that I have played. I am uncertain how many sets of Pernambuco Bruce has left, but someone should snatch up this spec L00. I am certain is will be magical!

Happy New Year Bruce.

Many guitars have come and gone but this masterpiece:

remains always within reach.

Thanks again for expanding my appreciation for fine guitars.

All the best to you and yours in 2016.

I am not certain of my UPS scale accuracy, but it says this guitar weighs 2.3 lbs without the finish, bridge, or tuners. Definitely the lightest I've made!

I will duplicate this post in my new thread: Sexauer/'16. See you there!
