Very cool font, Bruce. Can't wait to see the finished instrument.

Love the head stock - you should make it your standard!

While I too like the whole Deco vibe...it works well on that headstock shape. I don't think it would translate to Bruce's other headstock shapes. I really like the curvy "S". Just my humble opinion...

New start
As a guitar moves into finish, I start another. The next guitar is inspired by an earlier guitar in this thread, a Pernambuco/German L00. This one will be no frills, however, my WRX except that it has upgraded tonewood. This is my high end Pernambuco and the top is AAA grade German Spruce which the customer preferred.

I am delighted to see someone else has ordered the L-00, Pernambuco/German guitar from Bruce. I can tell them from first hand experience that they are in for a real treat.
For now, I will Sit back and enjoy watching Bruce develop the finish on the JZ/2 over the next month. I am very pleased with how such an exploratory project is coming together. The warm tone that Bruce applied yesterday to the maple and spruce is going to really tie together the piece. Is it me or do others see a surge in maple customs lately?

The shading on the top is very artfully done and adds a very aged looked. I love it.

The carved maple back guitar looks fantastic. I am curious though, what are the tonal goals and intended use for this instrument, and why was the chosen design a carved back/flat top?
Bruce, it must be nice, and rewarding, to be at a point in your career to be able to branch out and work on whatever you want to do. I really enjoy watching the variations you are putting into your builds lately. Thanks for showing us your work.

I can't speak for Bruce, but I will share the "client's" view. I would love to pretend that there where specific expectations of specific sonic performance beyond what I associate with all of Bruce's guitars being : 1) responsive to touch; 2) balanced in its volume and timbre; 3) eminently musical. That being said, vs. my L-00 Pernambuco/German Sexauer, I suspect that this guitar may have a bit more immediacy (faster transients) and may favor fundamentals a bit more than overtones. Being a new design for him, I suspect that we will both be pleasantly surprised by the guitar, and that is actually exciting! Perhaps three decades at R&D has war hardened me...:-) Ultimately, I have trust in the mastery of Bruce to manipulate elements guided by experience, intuition and sensory methods that I cannot fully understand to find the music in the wood and create a guitar that I will adore. Fun Stuff, Bob
