Default Build thread: Circa/John Slobod OM ziricote/adi

Hey guys,

I will not have a chance to do a build thread again in the future because I’ve gone wild recently. Lol. John has been working on my OM since the beginning of the year and we are close to done. What a great guy to work with and what amazingly clean work. I’ve sold a lot of guitars over the years, but about a decade ago I sold a Circa D-28 in cocobolo and red spruce that is easily the most missed sold guitar in my life. I was young and dumb. I knew John was raising his prices (rightfully so) a few years back so I went for it. The wait is almost over and I’m having a hard time containing myself.

WOW!

I love the figuring of the ziricote - particularly at the tail wedge! Very mesmerizing... I love the headstock! I can't wait to see those woods under finish!!!!!

As you painfully know from the loss of your earlier Circa, you are going to be in for a treat!!! I took receipt of a Circa a couple months ago and I'm still on cloud nine. Every time I play it, I'm still overwhelmed about how John exceeded all of my expectations. I hope you have the same experience!

Keep the pics coming!

John is one of the premier talents building now. I’m in heaven with my OM. He’s recently started on a maple 000-12 for me. Can’t wait. This will be a fun one to watch.

At least I’d think. Neck has been fitted. I’m guessing finish is real close. I know John likes to string them up and let them sit a few weeks to have them settle in. I’m guessing September or so but I don’t know really. Soonish

I received my Circa OOO recently after a three year wait. It is superlative in every respect.

I’m excited to follow your build!

Spectacular wood combo. Certainly will be following. As most know John builds an awesome guitar.

Thanks guys. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. Here are some pics from the neck set...

Gotta love Slobod’s work. Not a molecule out of place. Is he using an adjustable truss rod?

Yes...It is my understanding on this one that he is using a rod designed by Mark Blanchard that is very lightweight and makes it very easy to get movement in the neck should it be needed. John and Mark have a reputation that I believe in.

I am guessing but have yet to confirm that it is this...

Very cool. I know he’s been using non-adjustable rods in a few of his builds for weight reduction. My OM isn’t adjustable. Just curious.

I left John up to this one as best I could. I have 3 guitars here at home with me that are very much in the traditional realm with non-adjustable necks. They are spectacular and stable. I trust John. It really comes down to that.

Best possible situation. That’s what it takes. And your trust is well placed.
