Godin 5th Avenue Nut Width
I have been close to pulling the trigger on one of these but I worry about the nut width of 1.72" I am used to 1.75 width and can not be happy with 1 11/16" no matter how hard I try. Having never played one of these I wonder if that small difference will be noticeable. I'd be using it primarily for finger style blues playing. I think this guitar is a no brainer aside from the nut width issue (my problem, I know) Thanks in advance for any input.

You'd simply have to try...
You could probably get a bridge blank and get a little more spacing at the picking hand end, if that helps. The stock bridge is "TUSQ" anyway, and a wood bridge sounds a lot better acoustically. |

If you've ever played a Seagull mini-jumbo you'll like the 5th Avenue - and I'll second Jeff on the wooden bridge (available from StewMac for ~$20)...

Now that is good news! I did own a Seagull mini jumbo for a while and I don't recall being bothered by the nut width. Thanks.

Look if there is enough room on the two sides of the neck.. if so, ask a luthier to make a new nut where the strings spacing gains 1 or 1.5 mm in total. I did it once for an Alvarez jumbo, and it worked perfectly.

I row the same boat. Fortunately I changed the nut on my acoustic Godin 5th Avenue for a Taylor size nut (1,75 in.) and it works ! The strings do not slide out of fret even when bending. I even wrote to Godin to tell them...
