Beautiful guitars, Tim and Mary! Love your rosette work and back inlays on these. So elegant and tasteful. Very sorry that I didn't get to see them in person. Mary, I love your hand painted flower idea! I'd like to see those. Is there a picture somewhere?

Thx JR. We certainly missed you two at the show. Here are just a few pics of Mary’s flowers.

Thanks, JR.
In the case of the Woodstock show I originally painted a single flower to give to Linda Manzer for her achievements. I ended up with a great amount of the flowers to hand out as gifts to those who played McKnight guitars. As they were seen by others people asked for them soI handed them out freely. Luthiers, AGF members, by passers who have never held a guitar appreciated the fragrance of the woods which gave us conversations about woods we use and many expressed the joy of seeing a flower in bloom while it was so cold and damp outside. Painting allows me to enjoy the quiet time spent in my own corner of the McKnight wood shop. As a natural born food server and one time manager of a restaurant I still remember the waitress/middle man end of the business being a thankless job. So, for that reason alone, I am very seldom without a hand painted flower in my pocket or purse. I leave it at the table along with a tip along with a brief compliment on the back to assure the waitress I appreciated them delivering my meal. Anyone who flies know how the flight attendants like small gifts. Try giving this small gesture and see how much better your treatment is over others who stand in the same line. This is a perfect pocket item for them to hang on to on a late flight when all passengers are grumpy. A flower brings a smile and a comfort to their own corner of the plane. It might smell like wood, but a hand painted flower will not wilt. Just looking at it will help a breath become more cleansing during a stressful moment.

I really enjoyed reading through this thread. It's been a long time Tim; lovely to see that you're still making some fantastic instruments !
Do you ever hear from Tom (Orsino)? I've tried getting in touch once or twice but not had anything back. Lemme know if you're still in touch, would you? Hope you're having an amazing Woodstock my friend. Cheers, Cams

Hi Cams,
It’s GREAT to hear from you and thanks for the kudos. I have not had any contact with Tom for quite a while so I just sent him an email and I’ll let you know if I hear back from him. Stay tuned ... |

Thank you Tim. Hope you and Mary are both well. I still use the neck holder thingy that you gave me for my birthday at Doug's. That was a gift that keeps on giving!

What a wonderful idea, Mary
I love the flowers on wood, and Mary's explanation of why she does it! This world is harsh and unpleasant so often. And it takes so little to say thank you and brighten someone's day.
My mother in law is now 98 and is a fantastic artist. She makes postcards of her works and hands them out to lots of folks she meets! I mean almost everyone!!! She often comments that she is posted on more refrigerators than any other San Diego artist! Haha I often just give folks CDs. Especially if they have been enjoying my music. More smiles for everyone! That is the ticket. Yay Mary! Way to go Oh, beautiful guitars too, of course!!! Paul
