Default Remington Mini-Dehumidifier (Model 365)?

Remington® Mini-Dehumidifier

Anyone have experience using this in a guitar wall cabinet, display case or shadow box?

I'm building a custom 12-cubic-ft. wall-mounted cabinet to hang 6 guitars and 5 ukuleles - mainly to control humidity when the A/C in the room is not on (i.e. when we're not home).

1. Does this device work for RH levels that are normally above 70% year round to bring it down under 60%? (I live on Guam)
2. Does it give off any heat? (Don't want the temp. in the cabinet to rise)

Or, does anyone have any DEHUMIDIFICATION suggestions for my wall cabinet?

Thanks in advance!

I think this is just a passive bunch of water-absorbing material, and a resistor or two as a heating element to heat up the material and drive off the water when you need to "renew" it.

Hi Joe...

I did a bit of tracking and here is a link to a thread with a member from Indonesia chatting with another from Malaysia about his humidifier cabinet. It may give you ideas and some folks to pursue for information.

Hope this helps...

Thanks! The Eva-dry 1100 is at the top of my solution right now because of its petite size, however, I would be building a hose drain into the front of the tank that would allow for a larger capacity.

Additional research online shows that this remington model design didn't last very long and didn't work very well for someone in the high RH of Oahu, HI (Guam is worse).

Thanks!
