Default NGD: Epiphone Riviera

I had a return to make at GC and this guitar was on sale for $200 off. I played around with it fir about an hour and decided to bring it home. The mini humbuckers really are kind of a middle ground between single coils and full size humbuckers. I have been having a blast playing it and I love the sparkle red color. It's quite a beautiful guitar and aside from needing fret polishing, the setup is perfect.

Sorry for the bad pics. The second one really shows off the color better.20231021_231410.jpg20231021_172301.jpg

Gorgeous color. I’m a fan. Not just of the color. Love a hollow/semi-hollow. Great acquisition. I hope you’re finding some new inspiration with it.

How's the neck - I've been looking at the Royal Tan version as a "new-stalgia" companion to my main-squeeze Gretsch 5622, but the fat hard-D neck Epi started using in 2008 on their Chinese guitars (that they fraudulently label "Slim Taper") is a deal-breaker...

I'm honestly not great at describing the neck profiles. For me, I am okay with any C or D shape as long as their is some thickness and chunkiness to it. I am okay with a medium or thick neck, but if you get into the this, shredder style necks, I just don't like playing them. I don't really care for V shapes, unless it's a really soft V. This one seems very similar to the one on my Casino and on the ES339, although the ES339 might be a bit more C in profile. Sorry I'm not much help in that! It's definitely thicker than the Gretsch Electromatic and a little flatter.

Beautiful guitar. Are these fully hollow or semi hollow?

These are semi hollow. Similar in build to an ES335 but with mini humbuckers and the frequensator tailpiece.

We are really getting to know the back seat of your car lately.

Happy NGD!
