Moving forward. Max has completed the cabinetry and has sent the box to the finisher. This is the back after pores filled, but before finish. Shiny....
Hopefully, a month, and it will be on its way across The Pond to me.

That guitar reminds me of formal wear with a white dinner jacket. Since you don’t live in a temperate climate (where you could play it year-round), you’ll only be able to play it in the evenings in summer!

Reminds me of a funny story. I had a professor who was the quintessential nutty professor. Brilliant, but nutty. At dusk sometime around graduation, a friend and I were walking across campus and saw him coming toward us, dressed in a tuxedo. I’m sure that he could tell by the looks on our faces that we were puzzled. When we approached him, my friend asked, “Professor X, why the tux?” He got this surprised look on his face—bordering on terror—glanced hurriedly at his watch and, with a look of relief, replied, “It’s after six, isn’t it?!?” and just kept walking.

Perhaps Shaken, Rattled and Rolled! Sweet guitar for sure

I also find some volutes too close to the first position for my left hand.

Others, no problems. Depends on the builders style.

It is your guitar, and you should not need to compromise YOUR technique.

And now it is all good!

My guitar is off to Max's finisher, which is likely to take a month or so.
But to keep me happy, as is Max's way, he just sent me the image of the completed bridge, which is just an elegant, handcrafted component. Dare I say, even, Bond-like (explodes when you mess up - NC

).

At first, I thought it might have been crafted from two pieces of wood, then joined. But then realized the bridge is but one piece or RW. I love the way the grain continues despite the fact that the bridge has two levels - almost an optical illusion created by a strong linear grain uninterrupted by a step down.

To my way of thinking, this is the kind of attention to detail that sets a custom made guitar from others, and certain luthiers apart from others as well.

The only way that bridge could be more beautiful is if it were on your guitar, which shouldn't be long now.

Guitar body is back from the finishers, and it is looking wonderful. Images attached, of course. But it is very difficult to actually capture the three dimensionality of the maple finish. Conversely, the silking on the Moon Spruce top is shown quite dramatically. Max is installing the bridge today. I do feel like the end is at hand.

Make sure to check out Kevin's (aka Twin Dad) Spohn build thread. This is the first time both our builds are on Max's bench.

The shimmer of the figuring of the maple is pretty noticeable to me. Not sure what the German word is for chatoyance, but that guitar definitely has it!
