Default Friendly gathering at Gordon Lightfoot’s house

From Scorcese’s doc about the Rolling Thunder Revue, on Netflix now.

Fun to watch Joni Mitchell in such a relaxed setting. What an appealing lady!

Lightfoot looked a bit antsy in the background.

Maybe he was irked that a social gathering had been turned into a documentary filming session, and he hadn’t been invited to sit in the circle of musicians playing. Even though it was at his house.

I’d be a little bit annoyed if one of the music parties at my house got hijacked by a camera crew and I was told: “No, we just want to have Joni and Bob and a couple of these other musicians play.”

That’s pure speculation on my part, of course, but having experienced TV news crews take over previously pleasant gatherings and start telling people where to sit and what to play, it seems likely to me.

Neat setting but the camera work is horrible. There's a lot going on in the room and they rarely left Joni's face.

Sheesh, who knows who shot the video? Coulda been a home movie and not a pro. Or someone who thinks he's a pro but only has the skills of a dad with a super 8 on Christmas morning. I've no idea. But Joni is appeaing, as Glenn said, and that song and her delivery of it was the whole point. So yeah...why leave her face? Except, I did like seeing what she was doing on her guitar.
