Most BIZARRE CD event!
My car is old enough to still have a 6 disk CD player. One group I play in has a guy make semi-professional recordings from which he sells us CD's. I often order one from each concert....
So I want to listen to our most recent concert and eject disk 6 to put the new CD in. Disk 6 ejects, I put the new disk in. It plays fine. I'm done listening and home and eject the disk and put the old disk back in. The CD player by nature is supposed to begin playing the newly inserted disk upon insertion... It begins playing, BUT PLAYS THE FIRST TRACK FROM THE *PREVIOUSLY EJECTED* DISK!!!!!... with the original disk from the older concert. If you didn't get that, it was playing a track from a CD that WASN'T CURRENTLY INSERTED IN THE CD PLAYER!!!! Did I put the new disk back in by mistake? No. But I did the swap and a re-swap. Same thing. Two days later it is still playing the first track from the new CD...that I'm holding in my hand right now! It's not serious... but seriously funny. BTW.. The tune is Bernstein's "Profanation" (or all things ;0 ). I'll see if I can get it up on SoundCloud later.

But does it play the whole song, or just the first __ seconds of it? It probably has a memory buffer so that 'skips'/pauses don't happen when the car is getting bumped around on the road.

It plays the ENTIRE tune... all of 7minutes 48 seconds. No bumps or skips. It's kind of a spooky tune, taken from a religious trope and morphed into something as bizarre as the incident with the car CD. If you're interested here is the recording (performed live). [FWIW, I'm in the trumpet section in this recording]

Simple answer then - your car is old and haunted, I'd trade it in as soon as possible!
But it happens even if you play a different CD that is loaded in the changer first?

The Honda I have now (2014) automatically records any CD I play onto a hard drive. Sometimes it finds the details from gracenote, but with my obscure tastes, sometimes not.
I think(?) my previous Honda CRV had a six CD drive, , but maybe yours has both "ICE" aspects?

I think you should have used a buffalo horn bridge pin to eject the CD.

We've got a couple of CD players here in the studio that are "network" CD players. They take any CD inserted and whisk the data off onto a network drive and anytime you try to play the CD from then on they playback the stored copy. If you aren't thinking about the network capability it can be pretty weird to hit start and have something totally unexpected arrive at the speakers.
