Default J28SDL Owner......

Hi Sad.

I own a couple Washburns myself and recently installed a good pickup in my J28SDL Jumbo acoustic. Nice sounding guitar! Welcome to the AGF!

Years ago, and I mean YEARS ago, I had a friend who had bought or received (not sure which) a "Washburn" guitar.

I can't tell you what model it was, but I CAN say that I remember that I had never heard of one before.

In the last two years I've been messing around with the mandolin, (bought five different ones), and one of them was a Washburn.

Of all the mandolins I eventually sold, it was the Washburn Jethro Burns that had the best sound, the best wood, the best construction, and the best bling of all the rest, within the same modest price range.

As I look Washburn over more and more, I'm convinced that I would LOVE to add a Washburn to my stable of guitars. (The D10QSB is on my wishlist for my next cash winfall).

I'm a shameless advocate for Epiphone usually, and that's currently all I own. However it is worth acknowledging the leaps and bounds that Washburn has taken with its product.

In the acoustics, most of the Washburns are now made overseas but I think these are still pretty nice guitars, at least judging from the 2 I own. I hate to say it but my J28SDL Jumbo sounds far better unplugged than the Takamine EG523SC Jumbo I also own. In fact, no comparison. The Tak has a great sounding pickup/Preamp system in it, so I may keep it for that reason.

The D10S & relative family are probably one of the best budget priced guitars I feel on the market today so go for it....

Cheers SAD

Great sounding guitar. Mine has the gold w/ ebony 18:1 tuners and quilted maple sides and back. Sounds as good as it looks, and I know because I own some great sounding dreadnaughts to compare it to. This one is a keeper. Was not a plan to buy one but I saw it while browsing on Ebay and threw in a last minute bid. I guess no one else was interested at the time. I havent regretted it.
