What are they on drugs or something? Who the heck is going to pay that price for a travel guitar? Ok, never mind there is always someone with so much cash they don't care, but the average guy would rather buy a normal size guitar if they are going to spend that much.

It's a neat idea - Carbon fibre guitars will put up with the rigours of travel... but "Our direct to consumer price is $1599 including a gig bag" - I don't think so!
I'm more inclined to think of a travel guitar more as a disposable item! Get a cheapy and don't be too precious about how you treat it... if you break it/lose it the get another one! I wouldn't want to pass a $1600 guitar to beginners around the camp fire! |

Yea its expensive, but come on...its carbon fiber. All the coolest stuff is made from carbon fiber. We all need a guitar that can be blown away in the wind if not put in your back pocket.

I'd rather wait for the new CF travel guitar (later this year?) being introduced by Composite Acoustics. It should be roughly half that price, and hopefully will sound better.

A little to pricey for me and the sound clips didn't really knock my socks off. I'll wait and maybe when a few other makers hit the streets with their models the prices will come down and I'll give one a try.
Or maybe pick up a used one next year here on the forum

Well I think it looks kinda cool...I haven't heard it but perhaps it plays and sounds kinda cool....
That is WAY too expensive for a "travel" guitar that is not the ultimate hard core traveler. That would work for someone who can either put it in his car or perhaps on vacation once a year.... With a length dimension of over 35 inches....nope, not a real traveler. To really travel, every day, every flight, well, the neck has to come off. Yep. sort of like this....yes, I know it's electric, but I am getting used to it, and it goes everywhere with no security hassles. And the price is about a third of what was mentioned.

If it was 1/4 of the price--maybe. A "dobro like" sound? Ummmm-not really, and I wouldn't buy a guitar that sounds somewhat like a Dobro unless I wanted a resophonic guitar! I don't think these guys are gonna sell a whole ton of these. However...one name that will sell THOUSANDS in 60 minutes:
ESTEBAN!!! (and it's all black too! )

Check out the Emerald X5.
http://www.emeraldlife.com/ I had one and loved it, but ended up selling it to a friend when I decided to get my Rainsong. Really wish I hadn't because they serve different purposes. It was a great little guitar with a pickup and a full scale neck. I got mine at a sale price when they first came out, but I still think they are under $700 with a pickup. Check the website. You will also have to pay some duty when it arrives as it is made it Ireland.
