Too funny. I totally agree!

Here I’ve only seen where the guys are invited afterwards for food. I would never sit through one of those.

Dagnabit Otterhound YOU ARE DA MAN! Why the heck I didn’t think of this I will never know. This makes PERFECT sense. I can’t wait to give your advice a shot next time I get invited to one of these deals. I guarantee you it will be my last. I am eternally grateful to you Otterhound!

I've only been invited once and that was back in 1977...

I guess I don't get what the big deal is. Oh well, back to regular life.

My SO is throwing a baby shower for her daughter next month at our house.

She told me to make myself scarce for a few hours. My pleasure.

We've had quite a few baby showers in the family the last few years...

The women don't invite, expect, or cajole the men to participate, and to a man, we all appreciate our ladies keeping the old fashioned tradition of ladies only baby showers...

If you drink beer , take 2- 6 packs with you and refuse a glass . No hard alcohol , it's too much .
If you play this correctly , you will be eliminated from the guest list permanently and still be welcome in your own home .
The degree to which you do this will depend on your wife only and her level of tolerance .
Keep in mind that you want to be eliminated while allowing her to remain welcome going forward . A group is far easier to manipulate in this manner than 1 person . You don't want them to throw you out . You only want them to not consider inviting you back , ever .
When it's all over , fess up to your wife and tell her that you did it for her if you think that she will accept this . Since it is partly true there is a chance .
Good luck .
Oh yeah . If there are other men there , do not . I repeat , do not let them in on what you are doing because one of them will screw it up for you . If this does work , they may figure it out on their own and use it , but you must remain autonomous .

Try to keep up. This clearly falls under the new "You broke it, you bought it" societal regulations.

Well you could always try being loud, crude, and generally obnoxious, which could get you on the "no fly" list And BTW stop watching Royal Weddings which no doubt puts one on the sensitive hubby list

Yep.

Wearing the same t-shirt for a couple of days helps as well.

I don't go to the mall, craft fairs or showers.

Amazing. A simple, polite answer worked fine.

I attended my wedding shower 33 years ago. Yea, I was a fish out of water but I graciously bowed out after thanking everyone for their generosity. For their part, they were most likely happy I did.
