Kev, I would like to suggest Millionaire Matchmaker on Netflix as an alternative to the Royal Wedding.

Most people here seem to feel the same way about British pomp and circumstance as I do about American football. If you weren't brought up with it, it's impossible to fathom why anyone would want to watch it. That being said, of course I'll be watching - it's fantasy in real life!

I won't be watching. I didn't watch the last one either. It just doesn't interest me.

I don't have any TV to watch the Royal Wedding on, but think they seem like a nice young couple, and I'd be happy to have them as neighbors... They'd probably be a lot more choosey about having me for a neighbor though? HawHawHaw!

British Royals seem to be getting a lot more down to earth in the 21st Century. I suspect it's harder to be a Royal these days with that nagging feeling of guilt that you aren't really any better than plenty of those other "non-Royals", waving as you drive by in a fancy car provided by your birthright....

British Royals have been "down to earth for a long time" and meet and work with commoners all the time. Think of all those school, hospital, and factory visits plus, of course their military service.

Guilt? What on earth would they have guilt about?
They have been born into specific tasks for life. No retirement, no choice. Public duty for life.
There have been those who marry into the "firm" who haven't been able to live up tom the expectations and duties which is sad, but life goes on and the firm is as strong, or stronger than ever.

Harry is a particularly a man of the people. Saw him once at the mass Spitfire day at the local airfield. He was scheduled to take a flight in a two seater, but he was introduced to an ex WW2 pilot and gave up his seat to the old guy.

Just found this :

However, he had flown in the two seater before, but this was a "special" day for many/most of us.

Bless 'em.

I would tell you "No way," but here I am at 6:12 AM and guess what's on the television?

And it's my 65th Birthday.

God Save the Greg!
