Default Question about Taylor 314ce

Hello,

First time post here.. I appreciate the knowledge and friendliness I see in other posts.

Do you guys think this is a decent deal for this used instrument? https://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/msg...559276213.html I can't tell the age of it from the pictures but it looks like it is in pretty good condition.

It really depends on the condition of the guitar.
If it is in excellent condition, meaning very clean with no issues, $1300 would be a good price but not a great price.
I would be looking at $1100-1200 for myself.

I know it has the ES2 and cutaway (if those are important to you), but if this was the model guitar I wanted and there aren’t any issues I would probably offer 8-900.

70% of retail is good if its in great shape. Don't forget when you buy from a private seller there's no sales tax.

It depends on the year and condition. However, 314CE's can usually be had relatively easily for around $1,000 - again depending on year. The label is too blurry to tell.

Yeah.. not bad, but not stellar. I would follow the advice of others and get them to either go down, or be patient. for a couple hundred bucks more you can get like a 414-R or even the 516 LTD in the classifieds here(someone buy that thing already. please.) Better yet, Reverb -- there's almost always a deal to be had if you're willing to surf reverb attentively for 1-2 weeks. For that price, I would be shooting for one or two series-levels up, or a LTD, or to pay several hundred dollars less. It's sort of a blessing and a curse, that I think in terms like that... why would I pay $1300 for a used, plain-jane 314ce.. when for $1400-1500 I can get a fall limited 5 series, Rosewood 4 series, old 2000's 600 series....etc etc. I also agree with whoever else just said, if you're patient, I've seen about 3 different 314's pop up recently (like within 2 months) for $1k or less.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I ended up buying the guitar for $1000. It was made in 2011 and is in great condition. I put a new set of strings on it and love the sound . Thanks for the replies.

Congrats! A $1000 is a pretty good deal for a solid wood made in the USA ce model Taylor. I really like the 300 series.

Heck yeah. I think that's definitely fair. Not *amazing*, but definitely I'd say you got a good deal; that guitar has had some time to open up, it's all-solid woods, and you got it for the price (basically) of what their laminate 1 (or 2?) series guitars now cost.

I was taken with the 300 series when I went to A/B a bunch of Taylors the *very* first time... I didn't have quite enough at the time to make a purchase, but I definitely felt a bug, big difference from moving up to the solid wood. Some may have had different experiences, but, yeah.. for a long, long time I was saving for (and looking for) a 314ce Ltd.

Happy NGD ! ........post some pics!

Just so you know, unless the owner paid to have it upgraded, it's got the ES1 system, not ES2.
