All too true Dennis... Leaving a new guitar with its maker for an extra few weeks to let it go through its initial transformation allows them to make informed final tweaks to the instrument.
Yes, I find this is a good idea. Guitars tend to settle and the action changes, among other things. The action on most of my luthier built guitars usually doesn’t settle for a year or two. It’s better to wait for the first few weeks and then let the builder tweak.

Michael and I have decided to continue the design theme reflected in the headplate veneer and end graft in an Ebony/Holly/Koa fretboard inlay located @ the 7th fret.

Continuing the simple design motif established in the head plate and end graft, Michael created a elegant fretboard inlay of Ebony, Holly and Koa to be placed at the 7th fret...

Beautiful integration of the theme all the way around.

Love it!

Stunning work as usual for Michael. One of my favorite luthiers. Elegance with tone to match. He’s a gem.

Best,
Jayne

Thanks for your kind comments. Just a reminder that it will be available for any and all audition at Michael’s table at the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase in October.

I thought that some of you might like to see how Michael creates some of his wood inlay work.

Default Bridge on

Michael decided to use African Blackwood instead of Ebony to make the bridge. He felt that it “just had a little extra of that thing”.... The bridge weighs 29 grams which is quite light for ABW. Michael’s is using his symetric belly bridge design for this guitar.

Here are some shots of the Swiss Spruce top being masked and the nitrocellulose finish being removed in preparation for the bridge to be hot hide glued on. The last show shows Michael’s bridge clamping set up holding the glued bridge.

Bob, this is shaping up to be another incredibly tasteful guitar. Congratulations! It reminds me a bit of your Chasson in the details.

Just Love how the whole package is nicely coming together.
Very tasteful - yet original - ornements.

Can't wait to see that guitar entirely finished.

Best,
Tom
