The box is done...nearly
Bevels galore. Along with the Manzer wedge this guitar should be good to snuggle up with. Hopefully Paul can stay awake
Some spalted maple that i harvested in the back yard for the purfling lines. I thought the colors matched both the sides and the binding/bevel pretty well.

Woohoo!
Bevels ROCK! And I have been asking for some spalted yard Maple since the last one... looks FINE to me John!
I have been gigging a ton with John's two custom Round Peaks. They started out better than anything I have ever played, and They just keep getting better and better!!! My progress is slightly less noticeable. Haha Off to serenade some elderly folks... Play pretty and tune up often. Paul

Looks awesome, John! The purfling really ties it all together.
Won't be long now, Paul!

Thanks Neoman. Unfortunately there is a way to go yet. Neck, finish, setup. Lots of wait time yet to come

Man, that purfling looks great and matches really well. And how comfy can one guitar be? You could give this one a bear hug a still play! Wow!

Thank you very kindly. Your rhetorical question is the same one ive been asking myself. It looks to me like much more comfor table and it would be hard to hold on to. Paul plays out a LOT and for that reason comfort becomes increasingly important.

Hey, Steve, are you letting brother John get ahead of you in using TEXAS wood?

No texas wood yet. BUT, the bridge and fingerboard might be Texas Ebony

I think it might look good with a light tobacco burst on back and sides. Anybody have an opinion on that?

Nay lad, I'm not. Working right now on a neck with a center stringer of walnut that grew right across the street. Plus, we have lots of Texas Rosewood in upcoming builds! :-) |

Those bevels still blows my mind. I've always thought that I like the feel of small guitars, but the tone of larger ones. This one will have all of the comfort Paul could ask for. I played one of Paul's before he got it last year and it was spectacular. The one thing about this build though that I really love is that super cool spalted purfling. Congratulations in advance to Brother Paul, and kudos to John for some yummy appointments, and I'm anxious to see what else is in store for this one!! All in all, this is going to be an amazing guitar.

Well I made it home...
Two gigs today. Both take a bit of a hike. Health care in the morning. Memory care in the afternoon...
Took only the BROWN BOMB, and a small shoulder bag of harps, rack, tuners, slide bars and such. John's most recent Round Peak for me is a MONSTER. What a sound. And I get to play in places that are usually quiet where the folks really want to hear me! Am I lucky or what? Thanks for all the nice comments. Yay JK John, I thought we were on the same page about a golden edgeburst. But maybe you are right about the tobacco. I am definitely with Mike on the SUBTLE edgeburst vs. bigger bursts. What about it gang? Oh, as for holding on the strap has been invented. Comes in handy when strolling like a troubadour! Cheers Paul
