Default NGD (to me): Tweedy

Did some try-outs at local shops looking for a Martin to add to mini-herd. In the end found a nice used tweedy, with an upgraded saddle and pins and already set up comfortably med-low with a nice mellow voice. Love it! Honorable mention goes to the D-18 (awesome, powerful dread king) and the D-15, surprisingly (great sounding and playing simple hog especially for the money).

But in the end I wanted a smaller body, and it's particular sound won out over the CEO-7 for what I'm after right now.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in while I was looking around and fishing for opinions!

Thanks guys! The CEO-7 is very sweet indeed. It just wasn't it's time right now. As a side note I went around and tried all kinds of guitars in the same range (Gibbys, Taylors, and every Martin I could get my hands on). There are a lot of nice guitars out there to fit every taste. It's a good time to like stringed things.

The burst on the Tweedy is about the nicest on a hog top I have seen. Enjoy your new (to you) guitar!...

Did you get to try a smaller 15 series? Curious as to your thoughts if you did. Certainly the Tweedy is better looking. I love all hog smaller guitars.

I also subscribe to the idea of wanting very different tools in your toolbox. Nice variety you have there.

Congrats on the Tweedy!

I was at the local dealer here a short while ago and they had one in stock...beautiful little guitar and great tone...

If I hadn't picked up a Gibson LG2 American Eagle a couple of months ago, I'm sure the Tweedy would have followed me home...

I did try a few 00-15s, and 000-15/17/M/SMs. Each was a little different in it's own way.

I liked the tweedy's combo of bigger neck and 3/4ths nut, and in the end, I liked its unique sound (has moderately more depth on the low end, some warmth plus some brass, and tons of echoy sustain).
