I think 2k is a sweet spot for used guitars.
But 4k will get you an amazing used guitar.
So tough question.
If it were my money today, I’d try to get a little more scratch together and pick up the MJ Franks 0000 for sale here.
Or, I’d pick up the Tom Anderson Baritone that’s also for sale here and an amp.

I'd buy a Martin 00-28 and pocket $900

I’d put it all on one... an older D-28

If I had $4000 I'd look for a used Northwood, Webber, or Kronbauer, and get an Eastman or Simon and Patrick for packing around and playing outside.

You'd pocket a lot more than that if you go through a forum sponsor. I paid less than $2300 for mine last year. Wonderful guitar, you'll be happy if you end up buying one!

So, the question then becomes, do you pocket the $1700, or buy another guitar?

I would commission a custom guitar with a reputable luthier.

I’d buy one Collings I’ve had on my mind for over a year.
