Hi,I'm in the UK, and with matters affecting us here, I've been stocking up and using less since lockdown. Prices have been escalating in the last few months, as ewith most things.

One of the many things I'm stocking up on in these difficult times.

Just ordered an 8 pack of Elixirs from strings and beyond as a week before I ordered 2 sets from Sweetwater. Couple of more packs and I will be good for the year

Also, I have some trade offers in the classifieds for strings. Some already went through.

Or, could it be that here in the age of internet forums, we now just change strings way more often than we need to? 😁

I still see special offers on strings, two for one, and the like.

AND, the last time I bought some Straight Up Strings, they didn’t have the gauge I wanted, and they were limiting orders to three sets.

So maybe certain sets and brands are in short supply. Unclear whether shortages are widespread or enduring.

Over the years, I have bought my strings in bulk. The Euphonon String Company was where I got mine a dozen sets at a time for many years.

They are no longer selling strings so I decided to give the D'Addario 25 set box a try earlier this year.
I went with my stand by strings. PB Medium Phosphor Bronze.

I prefer Martin Lifespan but I can't get them in bulk like I can the D'Addario strings.

Hopefully I will not need strings for a year or more.
Except for my 12 string.

Lifespan strings are available in bulk from Strings and Beyond. 25 sets for 175 which comes out to 7 a set. But they come in the bulk plastic bag packaging separated by string size.

Last Cyber Monday, I ordered enough strings to get me through to Cyber Monday 2020. I play GHS stings, which are sealed for freshness. As it turns out, I switched from some other strings with a shorter playing life, so I still have a lot more strings that I initially projected. Looks like I'm good through mid-2021.

With record sales years for multiple guitar companies it's possible all the new players are also buying strings which account for any kind of shortages (if there are any).
